HOW’S THE MAN DOING TONIGHT, JOHN? WELL, GUY, AS OF THIS AFTERNOON, WE ARE TOLD THAT THE MAN IS STILL RECOVERING AT AN AREA HOSPITAL. SURELY THANKFUL FOR THE ACTIONS OF HIS QUICK THINKING NEIGHBORS THAT SAVED HIS LIFE. THE NEIGHBORHOOD POOL CAN DRAW PEOPLE FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS TO ITS PEACEFUL TRANQUILITY. FORTUNATELY FOR ONE LAKE CYRUS RESIDENT SATURDAY, NURSE PORTIA YOUNG AND OTHERS WHO SHARE HER LIFE SAVING OATH WERE ON HAND. SO I JUST GIVEN THE KIDS A TEN MINUTE WARNING. SO WE’RE LEAVING AT 4:00. WELL, AT 4:00, GOD HAD OTHER PLANS FOR HIM. WITHIN MOMENTS, A MAN IN THE POOL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE, PROMPTING YOUNG AND SEVERAL OTHERS TO SPRING INTO ACTION. HE WAS CHANGING DISCOLORATION QUICKLY, SO HE WAS PRETTY GRAYISH BLUE TO THE LIPS, BUT NOT RESPONSIVE AT ALL. YOUNG BEGAN GIVING THE MAN CHEST COMPRESSIONS, WHILE ALI MCDUFF, ALSO A NURSE, HELD HIS HEAD WATCHING FOR HIS AIRWAY TO CLEAR UP, REALIZED THAT WHEN HE HAS POTS, HE’S STARTING TO COUGH UP SECRETIONS. ANYTHING. OKAY, WE’RE DOING WE’RE DOING THIS RIGHT. WE’RE DOING A GOOD JOB AND HE’S GOING TO MAKE IT. IN ADDITION TO MCDUFF AND YOUNG, A DOCTOR AND AN EMT PITCHED IN TO KEEP THE MAN STABLE. NEIGHBORHOOD STRANGERS WITH COMMON TRAINING TEAMING UP JUST IN TIME. YOU KNOW, YOU DO THIS FOR YEARS IN A HOSPITAL SETTING, BUT TO KNOW THAT WHEN A NEIGHBOR NEEDS YOU, THAT YOU CAN BE THERE TO SUPPORT THEM. IT’S HUGE. ONCE A NURSE, YOU’RE ALWAYS A NURSE. YOUNG REFUSES TO ACCEPT ANY CREDIT, CLAIMING THE LIKELIHOOD SO MANY MEDICALLY TRAINED NEIGHBORS WERE THERE WHEN IT COUNTED WAS NOT A COINCIDENCE. WOULD YOU CHARACTERIZE IT AS A FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND MIRACLE? ABSOLUTELY. THAT’S ALL IT WAS. AND THE RECIPIENT OF THAT MIRACLE CONTINUES TO RECOVER AT AN AREA HOSPITAL. WELL, IT IS UNCLEAR EXACTLY WHAT CAUSED THE MAN TO BECOME UNRESPONSIVE TO BEGIN WITH. BUT WHAT IS EVIDENT WITHOUT THE ACTIONS OF HIS WELL TRAINED NEIGHBORS, HE MAY NOT BE ALIVE TODAY TO TELL THE STORY OF THEIR HEROIC ACTIONS.
