Man suspected in vehicle sales with altered odometers in Hoover
A Birmingham man has been arrested and charged in a suspected scheme to change vehicles' odometers.The Hoover Police Department reported LaJuan Freeman, 47, is believed to have sold more than 40 vehicles that could have had odometers tampered with.The HPD said the suspect, known as "Juan Freeman" on Facebook, sold vehicles on the social media platform's marketplace and often met buyers at a Walmart store on Lorna Road to sell the vehicles.According to the police department, detectives have found at least five people who bought cars from Freeman that had tampered odometers and there may be more people.Freeman is charged with several counts of theft of property by deception and attempting to elude and is currently in the Jefferson County Jail.If you know of anyone who may have been scammed, call Sgt.
