Mobile County DA task force arrests suspect on murder charges in 2021 homicide

A Mobile County District Attorney’s Office task force has arrested a man on murder charges who is suspected of killing of another man nearly two years ago.

Cabrel Devon Washington Jr., who was indicted by a Mobile County grand jury last month in connection with the death of Joe Johnson in October 2021, was handcuffed by the special task force formed to expedite the arrests of dangerous defendants who have been secretly indicted, the office said Wednesday.

The task force quickens the prosecution of such defendants, according to the DA’s office.

“We will continue to utilize this task force to ensure the safety of Mobile County citizens and expedite the judicial process,” said Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood.

Washington is among 11 defendants arrested by the task force.
