One area to watch in the Caribbean for tropical development

Tropical development is slowing, but hurricane season continues through the end of the month, and conditions remain favorable for another named storm.WATCHING THE CARIBBEAN A broad area of low pressure is expected to form over the western Caribbean Sea in the next few days. The NHC gives the area a medium chance as conditions are favorable for gradual development. A tropical depression could form late this week or this weekend. The system is expected to move slowly westward.Models reveal the system entering the Gulf of Mexico next week, making a turn toward Havana, Cuba then approaching Southern Florida by Wednesday, Nov. 20. Like all tropical systems, there is a great deal of uncertainty with forecasting a storm's exact track and intensity before it has formed. The Caribbean Sea is still very warm and a lack of wind shear will help strengthen any system. Regardless of track, a cooler Gulf of Mexico will lead to some weakening as it did with Rafael. There are no threats to any part of the Gulf Coast at this time.
