Coming out of Park Crossing High School, Grant DuBose had one offer to continue his football career, and when Miles College canceled its 2020 season because of the coronavirus pandemic, he was out the game after one season of college play.
After a year of bagging groceries, delivering meals and working at Walmart and Hyundai Glovis, DuBose caught on at Charlotte, and after two seasons with the 49ers, he’s an NFL Draft pick.
The Green Bay Packers selected the Charlotte wide receiver with the 256th choice in the 88th NFL Draft on Saturday.
DuBose was the third wide receiver picked by the Packers, following Michigan State’s Jayden Reed in the second round and Virginia’s Dontayvion Wicks in the fifth. DuBose was a seventh-round selection.
In two seasons with Charlotte, DuBose caught 126 passes for 1,684 yards and 15 touchdowns.
In March, DuBose ran a 4.57-second 40-yard dash and posted the fastest three-cone drill at 6.89 seconds and the fastest shuttle run at 4.32 seconds among the players from Alabama high schools and colleges at the NFL Scouting Combine this year. DuBose’s three-cone performance was the eighth-fastest among all players at the 2023 combine.
This is the second time that DuBose has been drafted this year. On March 8, the Birmingham Stallions used the 55th pick in the USFL’s college draft on DuBose.
