The Pelham Police Department is hosting a raffle to benefit an officer who was struck by a drunk driver last week. On July 1, Officer Elizabeth Minter, Officer Sam Knotts, and Officer Mike McGee were working traffic control on I-65 following a crash. They were standing outside their police vehicles with all emergency lighting activated. They were all wearing reflective safety vests and utilizing flashlights to move traffic to the offramp.Just before 1 a.m. a driver, who police say was under the influence, ignored officers' warnings to slow down and hit Officer Minter at a high rate of speed.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WVTM 13 She was reportedly struck so violently that she was thrown several feet and removed from her boots. She is in stable condition but has a long road to recovery ahead of her.
