Police search for man they say assaulted store clerk during robbery in Birmingham
Police are asking for help from the public to identify a man they say attacked a store clerk during a robbery in the Smithfield community.Officers were called at about 11:15 a.m. Friday about a business robbery at the Center Street Food & Gas at 6 2nd Avenue North.Surveillance photos were taken of the suspect during the robbery.Officers spoke with a female store associate who told them that a man had struck her repeatedly over the head with an object which bloodied her lip and caused facial bruising.The suspect then stole store merchandise. >> WVTM 13 ON-THE-GO: Download our app for freePolice ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
