
Ride held in Birmingham to celebrate Black History Month
A fun and visual event was held in Birmingham Saturday to commemorate Black History Month.The "Black Pride Ride" was a parade of decorated vehicles which rolled a distance of about one mile from McAlpine Recreation Center to Erskine Hawkins Park in the Ensley community.“This is a time to celebrate our heritage with a spirit of love for each other,” said event host Brenda Phillips-Hong. “We want to give people an opportunity to have fun, and we want people to leave feeling informed, encouraged, hopeful, and inspired.”According to a news release, alumni organizations, fraternities, sororities, churches, and many others were welcomed to join at no cost.Coming Together: Black History in Alabama
