Suspect identified in 2020 homicide of Lamar Harris in Birmingham
UPDATE: April 13, 2023:The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) reported a suspect has been identified in this investigation.The police department said Torace Laster, 25, of Center Point, is facing a warrant for murder and a weapons charge.The BPD also stated Laster is in a federal prison in Tennessee now, and will remain there until brought to Jefferson County to face charges in this homicide investigation.------------------------------------------------------Birmingham Police continue their investigation into why a man was shot and killed in the East Lake area.According to a news release, Lamar Harris, 26, of Birmingham, was found by officers lying in a front yard in the 7600 block of 3rd Avenue South about 12:15 a.m. today.Medics arrived and pronounced him deceased.The BPD believes Harris was riding a bicycle when he was shot.There are no suspects in custody, and investigators continue work to find a motive for the killing.The Birmingham Police Department reports this is the city's 44th homicide of 2020.
