WVTM 13. NEWS BEGINS WITH BREAKING NEWS WE’RE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS IN HELENA. TWO TEENS HIT BY A TRAIN JUST A FEW HOURS AGO. WVTM 13. S AARON LLEWELLYN IS IN HELENA RIGHT NOW WHERE THIS HAPPENED. YES, GUYS. SHERRY, WE ARE HERE IN HELENA WHERE A YOUNG WOMAN WAS STRUCK BY A TRAIN. I’M GOING TO STEP OUT THE WAY SO I CAN GIVE YOU A LOOK AT WHERE WE ARE, WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW IS THAT A YOUNG WOMAN WAS HIT BY THE TRAIN AND WAS THROWN ABOUT 30 YARDS DOWN THE HILL THERE WERE TWO TEENS INVOLVED, WERE NOT SURE AT THEIR CONDITION AT THIS TIME, BUT BOTH TEENS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. NOW, THIS HAPPENED AT A BRIDGE OVER THE CAHABA RIVER AT A DEAD END ON TRESTLE WEST TRESTLE WAY, AND THAT IS IN HELENA. AND THAT HAPPENED IN THE RIVER WOODS NEIGHBORHOOD. NOW, POLICE OFFICER ATTEMPTED TO RESCUE THE TEEN BY CRAWLING DOWN THE HILL. THAT’S WHEN THE OFFICER LOST HIS GRIP AND ROLLED AND TUMBLED DOWN THE HILL. THAT OFFICER POSSIBLY HAS A BROKEN COLLARBONE AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. SO AGAIN, WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW IS THAT THERE WERE TWO TEENS THAT WERE INVOLVED IN THIS TRAIN ACCIDENT. ONE OF THEM WAS HIT BY THE TRAIN AND ROLLED DOWN A HILL ABOUT 30 YARDS. THAT’S WHEN THE OFFICER TRIED TO SAVE HER BY CRAWLING DOWN THE HILL, BUT LOST HIS FOOTING AND POSSIBLY HAS A BROKEN COLLARBONE.
