Trump names new appointees to carry out 'America First' foreign policy agenda

President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday named former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as U.S. ambassador to Israel and Florida Congressman Mike Waltz as his national security adviser. Trump emphasized Huckabee's strong support for Israel, saying, "He loves Israel, and the people of Israel, and likewise, the people of Israel love him. Mike will work tirelessly to bring about Peace in the Middle East!""Trump has been much more vocal about supporting Israel and much less vocal about supporting humanitarian efforts in Gaza. So, Netanyahu, you would assume the Prime Minister of Israel sees this as a green light to do essentially whatever he wants," said political analyst Marc Sandalow.Trump touted Waltz's expertise on global threats from China to Russia."If Trump has his way, our relationship with China could get quite hostile in the future. He's talking about 100% tariffs, maybe little less than that on everything China sends us, which is a huge amount of products," Sandalow said.Trump also selected real estate investor Steven Witkoff to be Special Envoy to the Middle East, calling him an "unrelenting voice for peace."
