UAB won their third straight game and had five players score in double-digits in their 80-64 victory over Temple.

Blazers guard Tony Toney got the team going on offense early, hitting his first three three-point attempts within the first seven minutes of the game. Toney finished with 14 points, hitting four of his ten shots from beyond the arc, and grabbed seven rebounds.

Two Blazers flirted with triple-doubles, with Yaxel Lendeborg finishing with 13 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists and guard Ja’Borri McGhee put up 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. No Blazer has reached the feat since Rob Delaney did in 2009, but Yaxel Lendeborg continues to fall just short.

“It feels good to get a win, but I’d say this is the most frustrated I’ve ever been at a win,” Lendeborg said with a smile, adding “It feels like I’ve been a chasing a ghost for a long time now. I keep getting right there to open the door, but I can’t grab the knob. That’s what it feels like.”

Lendeborg’s backcourt partner, Christian Coleman, had 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks Bradley Ezewiro led the Blazers in scoring in 22 minutes of play off the bench, putting up 15 points and recording seven rebounds and a block.

As Temple dealt with injury issues, the Owls were left to rely heavily on their forwards and backups for offense. Backup guard Zion Stanford led the team and the game in scoring with 17 points, hitting six of his nine shot attempts, and Steve Settle, who was playing out of his natural position, finished with 12 points and three rebounds.

Up next, the Blazers visit Wichita State, a team riding a six-game winning streak, on Thursday night at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
