IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. THANK YOU SO MUCH. IT’S OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW FOR UAB. YEAH, THEY’RE DOING A COMPLETE REBRANDING, CHANGING ALL OF THEIR LOGOS. WVTM 13 ZOE BLAIR HERE WITH US IN STUDIO TO GIVE US A LOOK AT THE NEW LOGOS. ZOE. YEAH GUYS THAT’S RIGHT. THIS IS THE NEW LOGO FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA BIRMINGHAM ACTUALLY WANT YOU TO TAKE A LOOK OVER HERE AT THE OLD ONE. IT MAY NOT LOOK THAT DIFFERENT TO YOU, BUT THE LETTERS ARE ALL SMUSHED TOGETHER HERE. THEY’RE SEPARATED. THE UAB MARKETING TEAM TELLS ME THIS NEW LOGO IS TO MAKE THEIR BRAND MORE COHESIVE AND EASIER TO RECOGNIZE. THE FIRST TIME IN OUR HISTORY HERE AT UAB, OUR MEDICINE, OUR UNIVERSITY, AND ATHLETICS ALL SHARE THE SAME LOGO. ROSIE O’BYRNE HELPED LEAD THE REBRAND. SHE SAYS IT’S EASY TO RECOGNIZE THE THREE LETTERS ON BUILDINGS ALL OVER BIRMINGHAM, BUT PEOPLE FROM OTHER CITIES HAVE BEEN CONFUSED BY WHAT THE LOGO MEANS. WHAT WE LEARNED WAS THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT OF OUR STATE DID NOT RECOGNIZE OUR LOGO, AND SOME PEOPLE MISTOOK IT FOR EUPHORBIAE. HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES FROM ALL ACROSS UAB LINED UP TO GET THEIR FIRST PIECE OF NEW MERCHANDISE. I LOVE THE NEW LOGO. I THINK EVERYBODY’S BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY, AND SO WE’RE EXCITED TO ROLL IT OUT. THE BRAND LAUNCH PARTY IS JUST THE BEGINNING. THIS IS A, YOU KNOW, A 5 TO 10 YEAR PROJECT. BUT TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY KICKING IT OFF. OVER THOSE YEARS, THE OLD LOGO WILL SLOWLY BE PHASED OUT AS IT’S REPLACED WITH THE NEW ONE. THEY’RE ALSO SLIGHTLY CHANGING THE SHADES OF GREEN AND GOLD THAT REPRESENT THE BLAZERS. WE’RE JUST AT THAT POINT WHERE WE’RE GROWING AND WE WANT TO LET THE WORLD KNOW WHO WE ARE, AND IN ORDER TO DO THAT, WE WANT TO UNIFY OUR BRAND. RIGHT NOW, THE ONLY PLACE TO GET THE OFFICIAL NEW BLAZER GEAR IS AT THE UAB BOOKSTORE. YOU CAN ACTUALLY ALREADY SEE THE NEW LOGO ON DISPLAY AT UAB SAINT VINCENNES. TH
