TRYOUTS. THE JOB DESCRIPTION JUMPING FROM BOTH TO PIER AND BACK, DELIVERING MAIL WHILE AT THE SAME TIME TO RETIRE TO HERE AT THE RIPE OLD AGE OF 26, NARRATING A TOUR OF THE LAKE. NEW THIS YEAR, FIRST TIMERS WORKING AT THE LAKE GENEVA CRUISE LINE ARE ABLE TO JUMP MAKING THIS YEAR MORE COMPETITIVE THAN MOST. I’M MORE SCARED FOR THE JUMPING PART BECAUSE IT’S A LITTLE CHILLY TODAY, BUT WITH THIS YEAR BEING CAPTAIN RAY AMES, 45TH SEASON. WELL, AS LONG AS I COULD STILL ANSWER THE BELL, THIS IS SOMETHING I’VE WANTED TO DO FOR A LONG TIME, MAKING A GO OF IT. WHATEVER. THE WEATHER IS JUST PART OF THE JOB. IT IS WHAT IT IS. AND IRONICALLY, THE WORSE THE WEATHER IS, THE FASTER I HAVE TO GO. AND FOR SOME JUMPERS, RAIN AND SPEED, IT MADE FOR A BIG SPLASH. WE’RE READY FOR GOOD SNOW. A time-honored tradition returned to Wisconsin on Tuesday with mailboat tryouts.The tryout, which takes place in Lake Geneva, requires teens to leap from the moving Walworth, also known also as the U.S. Mailboat, to piers to run daily mail to mailboxes and jump back on. The rain made it even more challenging, and tryouts went better for some than others. Seventeen teens tried out for the summer mailboat jumper jobs, but only four will be chosen.Watch the videos above to see the tryout attempts.
