YouTube star and Alabama native Hank Green announced he has cancer in a video posted Friday.

“So, I noticed that my lymph nodes were big. I talked to my doctor. She said it was probably nothing, we’ll send you in for an ultrasound,” Green, who hosts the popular “Vlogbrothers” videos with brother and “The Fault in Our Stars” author John Green on YouTube.

During his ultrasound, the technician went to get a doctor, who recommended Green get a biopsy after the test came up suspicious for lymphoma.

The biopsy confirmed Green, who founded the content creator convention VidCon, had lymphoma.

“Good news is it’s Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s the most treatable, like one of the most treatable cancers,” he said, adding that he has a friend who was diagnosed with the form of cancer and has been in remission for 10 years.

He said it was likely the cancer was caught early.

Addressing his brother in the video, Green said, “I said this already to you, John. I said, ‘You know, this is the best time so far in human history to get lymphoma.’”

Green said he will have to undergo chemotherapy for at least four months.

The creator said he will listen to his body to determine whether he will work during treatment. He said his brother will probably take breaks from videos if he is not up to doing them.

“What am I going to make? I don’t know. Am I going to make Vlogbrothers videos? Am I going to make [podcast] ‘Dear Hank and John?’ “Am I going to make Scishow?’ Am I going to make ‘Tangents?’ I don’t know… I’m playing it by ear. I know I’m going to feel like garbage.”

Green said he is not concerned fans will demand more of him during chemotherapy.

“I’m much more worried about me putting too much pressure on me,” he said.

“I hope you are down with me making stuff when I feel like it, because I love it and I need to be doing things when I’m up for it,” he continued. “And, also, I know you are fine with me taking breaks.”

Known for his hilarious, rapid-fire, stream-of-conscious “Vlogbrothers” video blogs, Green said he doesn’t want the cancer to define him.

“I want to be, like, fun, goofy science guy,” Green said, laughing. “Not, like, struggling with anxiety cancer guy. And like, you know, you can be both.”

Green said he would most likely continue writing his newsletter.

“Knowing me, I’m still going to find joy in creating and communicating with people if I can,” he said.

Meanwhile, Green urged fans to give there recommendations for movies, television shows and video games “that are not heavy, at all. Like no emotion,” for him to consume during treatment.

“Really dumb things that will not make you cry,” he said.
