1-year-old girl drowns in north Alabama swimming pool, authorities say

Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigators are on the scene of a drowning Friday night involving a 1-year-old girl.

Deputies received a call of a drowning around 6 p.m. on Rockford Street in Meridianville, said sheriffs’ office spokesman Brent Patterson.

Patterson said the child drowned in an above-ground swimming pool.

Investigators were on the scene as of 9:20 p.m. Further information on the incident was not released.
