13-year-old Alabama softball star cleared 3 days after being struck by lightning

Thirteen-year-old Haylee Johnson is smiling today. You see, Haylee has received some great news from her doctor. Three days after Haylee was struck by lightning, the Cullman, Alabama, eighth grader-to-be has received the green light.

Haylee will take her big swing to a huge softball tournament this weekend as she will return to the sport she loves.

It was Saturday afternoon when Haylee and her softball teammates were at a tournament in Vance, Alabama. Haylee huddled under a tent as the rain fell — still, she was hit by lightning. Haylee was rushed to Children’s Of Alabama, where she spent 10 hours going through treatment and exams.

Haylee Johnson lives for softball, so when her doctor cleared her today, she was overjoyed. She bounced up, visited her grandfather in the hospital, and headed home.

It’s a great Tuesday for Jaylee Johnson, for her health is back, and so too is the sport she loves.
