Feeling like the 100s and more storms hitting Alabama Friday

FIRST, THIS IS WVTM. 13 WEATHER THURSDAY NIGHT. WE’RE LOOKING AHEAD TO THE WEEKEND ALREADY AND IT WILL BE HOT, IT WILL BE HUMID AND THERE WILL BE SOME MORE SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS. AND THE SAME KIND OF THING GOES FOR TOMORROW AS WELL. SATURDAY’S HIGH AROUND 92, SUNDAY’S HIGH AT 93. AND BOTH DAYS THAT FEELS LIKE TEMP. THE HEAT INDEX LIKELY TO BE WELL OVER 100 AT TIMES. SO HERE’S THE FORECAST DOWN TOWARD THE GULF COAST. IF YOU HAVE BEACH PLANS, BE A LITTLE STORMY DOWN THAT WAY. SCATTERED IN NATURE, THOUGH IT WON’T RAIN THE ENTIRE TIME. THE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS FAIRLY LIMITED THIS WEEKEND. AND TOMORROW, WELL, IT JUST LOOKS HOT, HUMID AND OCCASIONALLY STORMY. WE’LL START THE MORNING WITH SOME CLOUDS AND SOME FOG. SEE A VERY LIMITED CHANCE OF A SHOWER DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY. BUT THEN THE LATER INTO THE AFTERNOON WE GO, SOME OF THESE DOWNPOURS THAT MOVE IN. NOT ONLY ARE THEY HEAVY, BUT THEY’RE GOING TO KNOCK THE TEMPERATURE DOWN AS WELL. ONCE RAIN BEGINS WHERE YOU ARE, WE DROP FROM THE LOW 90S DOWN INTO THE UPPER 80S WITH ABOUT A 60% CHANCE THAT DOWN POURS ARE HITTING ANY GIVEN SPOT, ESPECIALLY NORTHWEST OF BIRMINGHAM. THERE’S NO RAIN ON WVTM 13. LIVE DOPPLER RADAR RIGHT NOW. WE’RE TRACKING A DISTURBANCE. IT’S OUT TO OUR NORTHWEST. AND THIS IS PART OF THAT UNUSUAL, REALLY STRONG AND UNUSUALLY FAR SOUTH JET STREAM THAT WE’VE BEEN WATCHING ALL SEASON SO FAR. HERE’S A LITTLE PUSH OF STRONGER UPPER AIR WINDS THAT ARE HELPING TO DRIVE THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. BY TOMORROW MORNING, IT’S OVER ARKANSAS. WE’LL TRACK IT OVER MISSISSIPPI AND INTO WEST ALABAMA TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND TOMORROW EVENING. AND THAT’S GOING TO KICK OFF LOTS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS, ALTHOUGH I DO THINK THE GREATEST RISK OF HEAVY STORMS, MARION WINSTON WALKER, FAYETTE, LAMAR, TUSCALOOSA, JEFFERSON, COLEMAN AND BLUNT COUNTIES, THE FARTHER SOUTHEAST YOU GO, THE LESS LIKELY IT IS THAT WE GET, THE MORE WIDESPREAD DOWNPOURS. BY 5 P.M. WE’VE GOT STORMS IN WEST ALABAMA. THOSE WILL BE MOVING INTO THE BIRMINGHAM METRO AREA IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF, SAY, 3 TO 7 P.M. AND SOME OF THIS MAY LAST UNTIL ABOUT 10:00. BUT BY 10 P.M. TOMORROW, MOST OF THOSE ARE STARTING TO SETTLE DOWN. IT’S GOING TO BE MUGGY IN THE MORNING, 75 AS THE SUN COMES UP, 92 DEGREES TOMORROW AFTERNOON. A HEAT INDEX CLOSE TO 100 SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY AT TIMES THROUGH THE WEEKEND. NO, IT’S NOT GOING TO RAIN THE ENTIRE TIME. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE WITH YOUR PLANS BECAUSE A DOWNPOUR COULD DEVELOP AT JUST ABOUT ANY TIME. SATURDAY’S HEAT INDEX, AROUND 100 TO 105, WILL BE SIMILAR TO THAT ON SUNDAY. AND THEN A WEATHER PATTERN CHANGE BEGINS TO DEVELOP ON MONDAY AS A BIG RIDGE STARTS DEVELOPING OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS STATES. THAT’S GOING TO PUSH THE TEMPERATURE AROUND HERE INTO THE MID AND UPPER 90S TOWARD THE MIDDLE PART OF NEXT WEEK. THAT IS THAT’S RYAN HENNESSY KIND OF WEATHE
