POLICE TELL US IT HAPPENED IN THE 3200 BLOCK OF 17TH AVENUE NEAR THE NORWOOD AREA. INVESTIGATORS SAY IT STARTED AS AN ARGUMENT BETWEEN TWO WOMEN WHO SHARE A CHILD THAT QUICKLY TURNED VIOLENT. Birmingham police said Saturday that a woman shot Friday night in the Norwood community has died.It happened just before 7 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of 17th Avenue North.Upon arrival, police say they found an unresponsive woman with a gunshot wound lying on the ground; she was transported to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WVTM 13 Police believe the victim was shot during an argument with a woman with whom she shares a child.Both the woman and the child's father were detained at the scene and taken in for questioning. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

Birmingham police said Saturday that a woman shot Friday night in the Norwood community has died.

It happened just before 7 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of 17th Avenue North.

Upon arrival, police say they found an unresponsive woman with a gunshot wound lying on the ground; she was transported to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
