Arrest made in violent assault of Alabama student

An arrest has been made in the violent assault of an Alabama student Wednesday night.According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, a student was walking along University Boulevard at around 7:30 p.m. when a man came up behind her and knocked her to the ground.Video of the attack reportedly shows the man then "touched her criminally," tore off a portion of her shorts, and fled the scene.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WVTM 13 Officers with the University of Alabama Police Department VCU Sexual Assault investigators were later able to identify the student's attacker as John Threadgill, 24, of Tuscaloosa.Threadgill, who has a history of similar offenses, was out on bond for several counts of sex abuse in the first degree at the time of the attack.Follow us on social: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | YouTubeThreadgill was located in the area of Auburn University's campus and arrested at 12 p.m. Thursday by the Auburn Police Department. Officers with the University of Alabama Police Department VCU Sexual Assault investigators were later able to identify the student's attacker as John Threadgill, 24, of Tuscaloosa.

Threadgill, who has a history of similar offenses, was out on bond for several counts of sex abuse in the first degree at the time of the attack.
