The UAB Blazers have officially joined the American Athletic Conference. UAB made the jump from Conference USA, where they were for 28 years.The latest: Sports coverage from WVTM 13 NewsWVTM13's Sports Director Ryan Hennessy spoke one-on-one with Director of Athletics Mark Ingram on the new conference for UAB."We don't intend to go into the American conference and finish dead last. Everybody can be dead last, we want to be number one and be competitive from the very beginning," Ingram said.As far as football, Ingram tells UAB this is a great chance to make it to the College Football Playoff."We have a real shot to play in the CFP," Ingram said.As far as the 2023 football season, Ingram explains he understands the struggles of trying to have a game the same day as Auburn and Alabama."Any time we have the flexibility of choosing our game time, we simply try to play when Alabama and Auburn are not," he said.
