The annual battle for bragging rights in the NFL draft has ended in a tie between two of college football’s powers.
Alabama and Georgia both finished the 2023 NFL draft with 10 players chosen, the most in the nation. They were followed by Michigan (nine selections) and TCU (eight).
For Alabama, the 10 players chosen fell short of the program record of 12, set in 2018. But the 10 picks tied the 1945, 2017, 2019 and 2021 drafts as the second-most in school history.
Three Tide players who were invited to the NFL combine -- cornerback Eli Ricks, offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor and defensive lineman DJ Dale -- were not drafted. Linebacker Jaylen Moody and offensive lineman Kendall Randolph also went undrafted, which was expected.
Ekiyor finished the draft as ESPN’s fifth-best available player, while Ricks was the seventh-best. Dale was No. 59 among remaining players.
Undrafted players can sign with any team immediately, but a deal will come with minimal guaranteed salary and no assurance he will make the opening-day roster.
