Judge ordered no bond for Birmingham woman charged in woman's murder in Norwood

UPDATE, July 17:A judge held a bond hearing and heard arguments from the prosecution and defense.After the hearing, the judge denied a motion to set bond, and therefore, Aaniyah Nowden remains in jail with no bond.Another hearing was set for September.---------------------------------Birmingham police have arrested a woman for the deadly shooting of another woman Friday night in the Norwood community.It happened just before 7 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of 17th Avenue North.Upon arrival, police say they found a 36-year-old woman who had been shot and was lying on the ground unresponsive; she was transported to UAB Hospital and died Saturday at the hospital.Stay up-to-date: The latest headlines and weather from WVTM 13 Police believe the victim was shot during an argument with 23-year-old Aaniyah Nowden, with whom she shared a child.Nowden and the child's father were detained at the scene and taken in for questioning. Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, and a warrant was issued for capital murder. That charge is because the shooting happened in the presence of a child.Nowden is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.The Jefferson County Coroner Medical Examiner's Office released the victim's name, who was identified as Justina Wallace.
