Austin Simmons, one of the top-ranked quarterback recruits in the country who sports a 5.34 GPA, flipped his commitment from Florida to Ole Miss on Saturday.
And Rebels coach Lane Kiffin was all about it.
Simmons, one of the nation’s top-ranked quarterback recruits, announced the move on social media.
Kiffin didn’t hold back when the announcement was made.
The Ole Miss coach tweeted a picture of Tom Petty songs on Spotify, including “I Won’t Back Down,” which is a song traditionally played during Florida football games right before the fourth quarter.
Kiffin also re-tweeted a photo of him holding a gator.
Simmons was homeschooled and finished high school at 16 years old, via online courses. He already completed 15 college credits as of August, per the Palm Beach Post.
Simmons originally committed in April to join the Gators as a member of the Class of 2025. He’ll now arrive at college two years early as a 2023 prospect after completing high school early. He expects to join the Rebels for OTAs next week.
