Another perfect night for baseball in Tuscaloosa will see No. 16 seed Alabama face Troy in NCAA regional play. The Crimson Tide (41-19) will send Garrett McMillan to the mound to face Trojan starter Logan Ross. The winner advances to play at 8 p.m. CT Sunday while the loser must first play at 2 p.m. for the right to advance. Keep it here for updates live from Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Eighth inning

  • Top: Alabama brings 2, 3, 4 to the plate. Seidl grounded out to short to lead off. Andrew Pinckney then singled up the middle. Drew Williamson walked. But a fly ball to left and a Shelton strikeout ended the threat with Pinckney on third.
  • Bottom: A lead-off walk for Whibbs gets things started for Troy but a double play negated that.

Seventh inning

  • Top: Rose reached on a two-out, two-base error for the Tide but Jim Jarvis grounded out to third to end the top half.
  • Bottom: A 1-2-3 inning sends this to the eighth with the Trojans still up, 8-7.

Sixth inning

  • Top: Andrew Pinckney led off with a no-doubter to left to make it Alabama 7, Troy 6. Just tattooed it. Alabama batters leading off innings are 5-for-6 so far.
  • Bottom: Singles by Cobb, Whibbs and Mock load the bases with no outs. A Shane Lewis single to right tied it again, Alabama 7, Troy 7. Moza came back with a strikeout of Stearns for the first out. A sac fly by Myers pushed the Trojans back ahead, Troy 8, Alabama 7. A strikeout ended the threat but not before two big runs pushed Troy back ahead.

Fifth inning

  • Top: A Caden Rose walk was all Alabama got in the fifth as a grounder to second from Seidl ended the top half.
  • Bottom: Kole Myers just crushed one to right for a solo homer to make it Troy 6, Alabama 6. Aidan Moza was the call to the bullpen after that and he sat down the next three Trojans.

Fourth inning

  • Top: Alabama responded with a single and double to open the fourth to put runners on second and third with no outs and the top of the order up next. Jim Jarvis’ single up the middle scored Guscette to make it Troy 5, Alabama 3. Seidl then singled to score Rose while a throwing error allowed Jarvis to come around from first to make it Alabama 5, Troy 5. The Tide took the lead back on a Tamez single that scored Seidl to make it Alabama 6, Troy 5. A strikeout ends it but not before Alabama scored four in the inning.
  • Bottom: A two-out walk was negated by a pop fly to right in a rare scoreless half inning. To the fifth they go.

Third inning

  • Top: Alabama had runners on first and second with one out but a double play ended the frame in a hurry. The Tide has stranded five baserunners so far. Still 2-0, Alabama.
  • Bottom: Kyle Mock led off with a single to first. Another single and walk then loaded the bases with no outs before the Tide bullpen stirred. Myers then grounded into a double play that scored Mock to make it Alabama 2, Troy 1. Kavanagh then singled up the middle to tie the game, Alabama 2, Troy 2. And then William Sullivan came through with a massive 3-run homer to left to make it Troy 5, Alabama 2. A pop fly to center ends the inning but the Troy fans are making the noise after three complete.

Second inning

  • Top: Ed Johnson led off with a single to right center. Caden Rose then drove a two-run homer to right center to make it Alabama 2, Troy 0. The bottom of the order delivered for the Tide there. Tommy Seidl then hit a two-out, ground-rule double to right but Pinckney struck out to end the top half of the inning.
  • Bottom: The Trojans went down in order with a pop foul, line drive to right and grounder to second. Still 2-0, Tide.

First inning

  • Top (Alabama): Jim Jarvis led off with a strikeout but a wild pitch left him on first. Two walks then loaded the bases but a grounder to second ended the threat.
  • Bottom (Troy): The Trojans went down in order with a pair of strikeouts followed by a line drive to right.

Pregame

  • The Crimson Tide will be the visiting team on the scoreboard.
  • For Alabama, McMillan enters with a 3.99 ERA in 38 1/3 innings when opponents batted .229.
  • For Troy, Ross has a 4.47 ERA in 56 1/3 innings while allowing foes to hit .288.
