Michigan State's Spartan Stadium-born falcon recovers from car injury

A peregrine falcon, born at Michigan State's Spartan Stadium, is in recovery after being hit by a car.

Pickles, who Spartan students are studying, was found along the road near the stadium, CNN Newsource said Thursday.

Vets said he had a fractured humerus, and his wing is too damaged to be released back into the wild.

Full-grown falcons can dive at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour, and this could have been a reason pickles was hit by the car, CNN Newsource said.

"When they see their food, they just dive," Brianna Dodge from Wildside Rehab Center said. "So, it's if they're going for food, they're not focusing on what a car coming at them. So it's pretty easy for them to get hit."

Dodge said if Pickles is able to be trained enough, he could serve as an educational bird to help teach kids about falcons.
