Montana Fouts will join Alabama softball team in Italy
BESIDES WINNING A LOT OF GAMES, ANOTHER THING PATRICK MURPHY LIKES TO DO IN POSSIBLY EVEN MORE THAN DOING THAT IS TAKING HIS TEAM ON UNFORGETTABLE TRIPS. AND ALABAMA SOFTBALL IS GETTING SET TO TAKE ON ITALY SOON ENOUGH. THEY’RE LEAVING NEXT WEEK. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL TRIP FOR THE TEAM AFTER EMBARKING ON EXPERIENCES TO THE NETHERLANDS AND JAPAN OVER THE LAST NINE YEARS. A CHANCE TO GROW THE SPORT OF SOFTBALL OVERSEAS AND POSSIBLY CREATING FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIS PLAYERS WHILE GIVING THE TEAM AN EXPERIENCE THAT MURPHY BELIEVES CAN HELP DEFINE A CAREER. WHEN YOU TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY, YOU LEARN DIFFERENT CULTURES, YOU LEARN DIFFERENT WAYS OF LIFE. YOU’RE NOT IN YOUR OWN LITTLE BUBBLE AND THINK IT’S THE BEST THING A YOUNG PERSON CAN DO IS GET OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE AND GO SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT AND EXPERIENCE WHAT IT’S LIKE SOMEWHERE ELSE. I THINK IT’S THOSE MOMENTS OUTSIDE OF THE GAME IS WHERE YOU REALLY BUILD A TEAM AND THE TRIP WILL INCLUDE THE CURRENT ROSTER. ALL COACHES AND SUPPORT STAFF AND ALSO SOME GRADUATED SENIORS. SO YES, THAT MEANS MONTANA FOUTS WILL ALSO BE JOINING HER FORMER TEAM, MURPH, CONFIRMING THAT SHE’LL MEET UP WITH HER TIED FAMILY AFTER PLAYING WITH TEAM USA AND IRELAND. SO SHE’S GOING TO FLY FROM DUBLIN TO VENICE AND MEET US. IT’S GOING TO BE FUN TO GET REUNITED WITH HER, BUT DON’T THINK THAT SHE’LL PROBABLY PLAY FOR US SINCE THIS IS, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE ONE OF OUR FRESHMEN COMING WITH US. WE’LL HAVE JAYLA, WE’LL HAVE SALTER STILL, AND THEN WE HAVE LAUREN ESSMAN AND THEN JOCELYN TRY TO GIVE THEM ALL THE THE PITCHING OPPORTUNITIES. AND MONTANA WILL BE THE BEST TEAMMATE AND THE BEST CHEERLEADER IN THE DUGOUT, AS SHE ALWAYS HAS. WELL, HERE’S A LOOK AT WHAT’S ON THE SCHEDULE FOR THE TEAM. THEY FLY OUT ON THE 17TH ARRIVING IN ITALY THE NEXT DAY THEY’LL PLAY TEAM ITALY AND BACK TO BACK DOUBLEHEADERS BEFORE GETTING TO TRAVEL NORTHERN ITALY ENDING IN MILAN. MURPH BELIEVING THEY MIGHT HEAR A FEW RULE TIDES OUT THERE FROM FANS. THEY’RE GOING TO COME FIND US. I BET ON IT. SO SUCH A COOL EXPERIENCE. AND ONE QUICK STORY, MURPH SAID, WHEN THEY WERE IN THE NETHERLANDS, THEY WERE GETTING SERVED AT DINNER AND SOMEONE ASKED, WHERE ARE YOU GUYS FROM? HE SAID, TUSCALOOSA, HE WAS LIKE, IS THAT IN EUROPE? AND HE WAS LIKE, NO. BUT THEN HE WAS LIKE, WAIT, YOU GUYS ARE THE SWEET HOME ALABAMA? AND STARTED SINGING THE SONG. SO WE KNOW ALABAMA REALLY TRAV
