Odenville suspect shot, killed by police during domestic situation

A man is dead after police responded to a possible hostage situation in Odenville Saturday night.The incident took place around 7:15 p.m. at a home in the 15000 block of Highway 411.Police said when they arrived they secured the home and found that an armed man had entered a wooded area at the rear of the property. Odenville Police Chief Glenn Walton said that officers encountered the suspect and victim and immediately tried to de-escalate the situation. The suspect was shot and is dead. Moody, Springville, Argo, Margaret, Leeds Police and the St; Clair County Sheriff's Office were also on the scene along with Odenville Fire Dept.Chief Walton said the Oxford Police Department is conducting an investigation, along with Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics. The name of the suspect has not been released.
