Tuberville: Trump’s locked up classified docs ‘nothing like’ ones in Biden’s Corvette

Sen. Tommy Tuberville on Tuesday suggested President Biden was more careless in handling classified documents than former President Donald Trump.

“I understand that President Trump had documents in his home,” Alabama’s senior senator told CNN’s Manu Raju after being asked if he was concerned about Trump allegedly divulging national security information. “They were locked up, nothing like President Biden’s was in his glove compartment of a Corvette.”

Tuberville made the comment in Washington, shortly before he left to join Trump for a press conference/fundraiser at Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey property hours after Trump pleaded not guilty to mishandling classified documents in Miami federal court.

The senator skipped a vote calling to end debate on President Joe Biden’s nomination of Jared Bernstein as chair of the Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) to attend.

Tuberville is one of Trump’s strongest supporters in the Senate and endorsed the former president’s 2024 campaign shortly after Trump formally announced his candidacy.

He said he wasn’t concerned about Trump’s handling of classified materials.

“Those who live in a glass house don’t need to throw rocks,” Tuberville told CNN, comparing Trump and Biden.

Classified documents were found in the garage of Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home, next to his Corvette.

But Biden claimed they were not haphazardly stored.

“[B]y the way, my Corvette is in a locked garage. Okay? So, it’s not like they’re sitting out in the street,” he told reporters in January.

Biden also highlighted that he cooperated with the Justice Department’s review when classified documents were also found in the home of former Vice President Mike Pence.
